Citrus in South Florida Gets A Cold Nip
Cold Weather Is Good For Citrus!
December 8th, 2010
We have had some really cold weather here in the Palm Beach Gardens and Jupiter area for the last couple of days. Now, in all fairness, we are not dealing with lake effect snowfall that they get in Buffalo, or the mountains of snow that they have in Tahoe, but nevertheless, when you live in sunny, South Florida, temperatures plunging into the 30’s are a big deal. Although the skies are clear, playing golf and hitting the beach will have to wait. This cold weather never lasts more than a day or two.
We had a hard frost in Jupiter Farms for the last two nights and of course the farmers in the western part of Palm Beach County are really worried about their crops. Even the national news is reporting on the strawberry farmers covering their crops with a sheet of ice to keep the temperature from dipping below 32 degrees on the fruit.
Along the coast, though, we have some good effects from the cold weather. First, it makes the sailfish bite. And since we are a fishing capital, this is a good thing. In fact, Stuart, a town just to our north, calls itself the ‘Sailfish Capital of the World’. Pictures are being posted on Facebook this morning of fish being caught.
The other good thing is that the cold weather turns the citrus sweet. Until we get some really cold weather, they aren’t good to eat. Cold Weather Is Good For Citrus! So now we will have fresh citrus earlier than last year. And we have plenty of citrus. Take a look at this shot below.
This picture was taken at one of my listings in PGA National homes for sale. This tree is right in their backyard and is loaded with naval oranges.
So, tonight the temperature will only be in the 40’s before warming up some more tomorrow. And once again golfers will be calling for tee times and the parking lots near the beach will be filling up.
PGA National Homes | Admirals Cove | Interior Designers
They even use CAD to design your home. Everything can be pre-planned and coordinated. If you have a home, or are buying a Palm Beach County home, you might have a look at Robb & Stucky Interiors. Extraordinary style and a place where customized design is the norm. From drapery to flooring to fabric design, Robb & Stucky provide a full service suite of interior design services to homeowners in Palm Beach Gardens.
Often, the attraction of homes from PGA National homes to Admirals Cove homes is as much in the interior design and attention to details of thematic elements inside the home as the exterior and settings of the residences.
The Sales Contract – Protect Yourself From Buyer Bailout
![]()
You’ve seen the program 24 with special agent Jack Bauer at least once if you’ve been living outside a cave. The main character usually says, “I need solve it now!”
In the last 72 to 24 hours the possibility for a buyer to exit a contract becomes critical. Home sales all generally have this period to some degree. The homeowner’s association disclosure. The disclosure says, “If to be made a part of the contract, if the disclosure summary required… has not been provided to the prospective purchaser before executing this contract for sale. This contract is voidable by the buyer by delivering to seller or seller’s agent or representative written notice of the buyer’s intention to cancel within 3 days after receipt of the disclosure summary or prior to closing, whichever occurs first…”
Uh Oh.
The buyer then may decline to sign unless the homeowners disclosure has already been provided. The meaning of the contract has to be parsed carefully but not having all disclosures in place in Florida real estate transactions may lead to an eleventh hour failure of your contract.
Get your stuff done right away when you put your house on the market. Fill out all the forms and have a smooth transaction for any Florida real estate transaction. Jeff Lichtenstein sells more of the PGA National Homes for sale.
