Google May Index At Near Real Time, But Orange County SEO Results are Still Stop and Go

My target for a competitive term in Orange County photographers netted a 6 position jump recently, all the way from position 12 or 13 to position 5. This was a result, not of more changes on the website, but simply adding back-links from sources I already have access to, over a three of four weeks time. Nothing happened for the first three weeks and then an incremental move from position 12 to 11 for a couple of days. Then, out of the blue, a sudden move to position 5.
One other factor was some increase in traffic (slight) by syndicating content on social networks back to the website. My next effort will be to try to increase time-on-site stats with video.
Orange County SEO is competitive on just about every front and SEO for photography is appreciably high for most searched terms.

SEO for Images? I’m Going to Try an Experiment for Orange County Photographers
I found one of my images for Orange County photography on page two. I chose the link which generates a Google images preview page. I’m going to see if a back link pushes it to page one or to organic results. This seems to be kind of gaming the system since I’m optimizing a search for a search result but I’m curious whether Google optimizes its own content when referred to in an outside reference. I took a picture of Diane and two of Julie’s girls and two of the girls’ dolls. The post was named “Dolls” and shows up on page two for Orange County photographers.

I’m just wondering if the local results Google maps inclusion in organic searches such as one for Orange County Wedding Photographers is optimizable. Perhaps a static page in Google maps actually exists? That would be like optimizing for a YouTube listing. I tried going directly to the link found on Google results for Orange County Wedding Photographers and it went straight to the local results map page. Wouldn’t that be cool for leveraging the results first place?
